SHILLONG, JAN 31: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has announced plans to relocate hawkers from various locations across Shillong, following the recent successful relocation of vendors from Shillong Civil Hospital to a designated vending zone.
“The government will take similar steps in all locations… We will do it in a phased manner and after thorough consultation with the hawkers and respective headmen of those particular localities,” Dhar said.
Dhar emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring a smooth transition, stating, “We will do it in such a manner that no one should have any problem”.
Regarding the proposed relocation of hawkers from Laitumkhrah area, Dhar said, “In a short time we will do it… We have already identified the place, but it is not appropriate for me to give you the exact location as we have not yet finalized the locations”.
