Nagaland Governor L. Ganesan passes away at 80

Guwahati, Aug 15: Nagaland Governor and veteran BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, L. Ganesan passed away in Chennai on Friday at the age of 80.

Ganesan, who had been unwell, travelled to Chennai last week for a medical check-up. A few days ago, he suffered a fall in the bathroom and sustained severe head injuries, which proved fatal.

A seasoned politician, he had earlier served as Governor of Manipur and held additional charge as Governor of West Bengal.

A bachelor, Ganesan had recently celebrated his 80th birthday in grand fashion in Chennai, an event attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Born in Thanjavur district, he was a passionate admirer of Carnatic music and a regular attendee of the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvaiyaru.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, his last rites will be performed in Tamil Nadu.
