Shillong, Aug 13: Pyndengumiong Presbyterian Secondary School, Mairang, celebrated its Silver Jubilee today with a grand programme attended by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma as Chief Guest and State Planning Board Chairman Metbah Lyngdoh as Guest of Honour. Community and Rural Development Minister Abu Taher Mondal and other dignitaries were also present.
Founded in 2001 with just three students, the school has grown to over 500 learners. Congratulating the institution on 25 years of service, the Chief Minister praised its commitment to both academic and moral education, guided by its motto, “Mold and Shape the Child in God’s Image.”
The Chief Minister encouraged students to set goals, work hard, and remain rooted in moral values.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the education sector, particularly in supporting deficit and ad-hoc schools. He announced financial assistance of ₹15 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund for the extension of the school building, ₹3 lakh for the Silver Jubilee celebrations and support for providing musical instruments to the school.
Guest of Honour Metbah Lyngdoh lauded the school’s achievements and thanked the Chief Minister for his continued support, pledging to advocate for the institution’s future needs.
The celebration marked the beginning of a year-long programme to honour the school’s legacy and strengthen its mission of academic excellence and value-based education.
