Tura, July 12: The fourth edition of the Garo Hills Model United Nations (GHMUN) 4.0, organised by the Megh concluded successfully after three days of intensive deliberations, diplomacy, leadership development, and youth engagement from July 9 to 11, 2026 at the ICFAI University, Tura Campus.
The event brought together students and young delegates from various educational institutions across all five districts of Garo Hills with support from Chief Minister’s office and District Administration, providing them with a platform to engage with contemporary global and national issues through the framework of the United Nations.
Throughout the conference, delegates participated in committee sessions, debates, negotiations, and policy discussions, fostering critical thinking, public speaking, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
The conference commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Shri Rupert Momin, MLA Kharkutta Constituency as the Chief Guest, and Meshuwa Kupar Mawtoh, MCS, as the Guest of Honour.
The conference under the leadership & guidance of the founding member of GHMUN Regional Director Dorang Dekamra M. Sangma, and Taiwan Ch Sangma Deputy Regional Director, Megh.
MUN Association, this edition hosted 6 committees- UNGA DISEC, Model Legislative Assembly, UNCSW, UNEA, and UNHRC respectively chaired by executive committee members from various parts of the state and region.

The closing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Dr. Gloria B. Sangma, Medical and Health Officer In-Charge, Matchakolgre Urban PHC, Fr. (Dr.) Jogesh B. Sangma, Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura, and Chompaboti Hajong, Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator, ICFAI University, Tura Campus.
Addressing the gathering, the guests commended the participants for their enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to meaningful dialogue and leadership.
The conference culminated in an Awards and Felicitation Ceremony, recognising outstanding delegates, committee performers, and contributors who demonstrated excellence in research, diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking throughout the event.

The successful conclusion of GHMUN 4.0 marks another milestone in the efforts of Megh. MUN Association to empower young people through experiential learning, leadership training, and engagement with pressing contemporary issues.
The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding such initiatives and fostering a generation of informed, responsible, and globally aware citizen.
