Tura, July 3: The Special Inquiry Committee (SIC) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) has summoned MDC Bernard N. Marak for an oral briefing on July 4 at 1:00 PM in connection with the controversial GST consultancy engagement.

“This oral briefing is part of the ongoing inquiry into the procedural, administrative, and public communication matters relating to the GST consultancy engagement, subsequent developments, and related concerns raised through public channels”, said a communication released by GHADC.
The SIC, constituted under an Executive Committee resolution dated June 9, has already completed internal proceedings, including briefings with departmental officers and the consultant involved.

Marak’s testimony is expected to contribute to the Committee’s ongoing effort to uphold transparency, accountability and factual accuracy.
“The appearance of Mr. Marak is expected to support the Committee’s effort to ensure transparency, accountability, and factual clarity in the matter”, the release added.
Reiterating its commitment to a fair and unbiased process, the SIC said all oral briefings are being conducted in accordance with procedural norms and internal guidelines.
