Governor distributes Rs 99.7 lakh to 23 beneficiaries in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, MAR 25: Governor CH Vijayashankar on Wednesday distributed financial assistance under his Discretionary Grant to 23 institutions and organizations in the state, emphasizing the importance of such support in strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting inclusive development.

A total of Rs 99,70,000 was disbursed to various beneficiaries, including cultural organizations, educational institutions, community organizations, social organizations, and sports bodies.

The beneficiaries included Harmini Preparatory Music Academy, Biate Cultural Organisation of Meghalaya, Capt. Williamson Sangma State University, and several schools and community groups.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor expressed confidence that the assistance would contribute meaningfully towards educational advancement, cultural preservation, and community welfare in Meghalaya.

“The support will go a long way in strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting inclusive development,” he said.

Principal Secretary to the Governor, HC Chaudhary, was also present at the event.
