Shillong, Sept 28: Governor of Meghalaya, Satya Pal Malik on Tuesday conferred Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals to Forty Four Assam Rifles Personnel during the Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong. These medals were conferred to the personnel for their stellar performance and gallantry action in service of the nation.
The Governor, during his addess, praised the unflinching locality, devotion to duty & dedication exhibited by the Assam Rifles over the past 186 years while operating in the rugged and inhospitable terrain of the North East.
He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the gallant soldiers of Assam Rifles and exhorted them to continue the excellent work.
The ceremony was witnessed by high ranking civil and military dignitaries.
Governor’s Gold & Silver Medal
The award of the Governor’s Gold & Silver Medal was instituted in the year 1957, and the medals are awarded in recognition of the acts of gallantry and meritorious service rendered by the personnel of Assam Rifles.
