Shillong, March 17: With North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) deciding to regulate power supply from March 20, Power Minister James Sangma said the Government is trying its best to find ways and means to solve this problem.
“We are trying our best to avoid the situation of load shedding,” Sangma said.
Further, the power Minister informed the media, “Neepco has sent a letter to us stating that there are some outstanding dues and failing which they will regulate from the 00 hours on 20th March that means from midnight of 20th.”
Stating that the outstanding dues of Rs 504.41 crore to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), he said, “… So we are talking to them about how and finding out ways and means of how to solve this issue.”
In a letter to the executive director of North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre, Power System Operation Corporation Limited on Tuesday, NEEPCO executive director (commercial) NK Mao had said despite constant persuasion at various levels, MePDCL has failed to clear the outstanding dues payable to NEEPCO against the purchase of power from its power stations.
