Govt withdraws all restrictions in tourist locations across Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 2: Meghalaya Government has removed all the restrictions in the tourist places as now children below 10 years and senior citizens can visit tourist places in the state.

This was decided in a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in Shillong.

Addressing reporters after the review meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “Tourist spots are now again open, no more restriction is imposed, there as the restriction has been lifted again with immediate effect and also, we allowed children below the age of 10 years who accompany their relatives or parents along with the senior citizen is allowed for visiting the tourist’s spots in different parts of the state.”

Further, giving further relaxation in Wedding, Funeral or any other gathering, the state Government has allowed 75 percent attendees against one third which was ordered earlier.
“Meetings, dorbar, functions whatever functions in the village level or in the locality level whatever again now from one third is increased to 75 percent and this will also include like private gathering, private function weddings, family get-together, funeral anniversary 75 percent it is allowed,” Tynsong said.

Relaxation is given in sports activities as well. Hotels; private crèches, Private/Non-government organisations, 100% attendance has been permitted with immediate effect.
Activities like fete, fishing competition, ruffle draw youth week or any types of fund-raising activities is also allowed.

“This relaxation made is again subjected to complete compliance of the sops to be issued by the concerned department along with the health department,” Prestone said adding SOPs are in place till the vaccination coverage is completed.

The Government also order for reopening of schools in the junior level i.e. class 1 to 5, “That time we still did not allow Shillong, Jowai, Tura for the reopening of the classes, in the review meeting the Government has decided to allow class 1 to 5 with immediate effect for partial reopening,” he added.

The concerned school authorities can have consultative classes with the students but not in a regular basis it is the only partial opening of such schools.
