SHILLONG, DEC 3: The situation in the Meghalaya-Assam border area is currently normal, according to Nujorki Sungoh, UDP MLA from Mookaiaw.
The government has taken steps to maintain peace, including setting up outposts in Khatarsla, Mukroh, and Barato, he told reporters on Tuesday while referring to recent tension at Lapangap village in West Jaintia Hills district.

“We want to make sure that this kind of thing will not happen in the future,” Sungoh said, adding that the government is in talks with Assam authorities to resolve the issue.
The Deputy Chief Minister has convened meetings, and discussions are ongoing.
Sungoh assured that sufficient personnel are deployed in the border areas and outposts to handle the situation. The government plans to meet with local villagers to discuss the issue further, but no date has been set.
