Shillong, July 23: The President of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Eastern Zone, Alex D. Shira, has demanded an unconditional public apology from the President of BJP Yuva Morcha Meghalaya over reported remarks allegedly calling for protesters in New Delhi to be shot.

Condemning the statement while standing in front of the BJP Office in Shillong, Shira said there is no place in a democracy for rhetoric that appears to encourage violence against citizens exercising their democratic right to protest peacefully.

“As a representative of the student community, I strongly condemn the reported remarks attributed to the President of BJP Yuva Morcha Meghalaya calling for protesters in New Delhi to be shot,” he said.

Shira asserted that such remarks are unacceptable and undermine democratic values, stressing that differences of opinion must be addressed through dialogue rather than inflammatory language.

He further stated that the NEET paper leak has affected alot of students and the people in power who are responsible should be held accountable.
