Shillong, Sept 29: The State government is likely to call the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) for a meeting next week regarding the blueprint prepared by the government for relocating the 342 families from Harijan Colony at Them Ïewmawlong.
The Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, informed reporters on Friday that the relocation process has reached its final phase, as the blueprint has been prepared. It is likely that a meeting with the HPC will be held next week.
When asked about HPC’s request for additional space apart from the government’s blueprint, Dhar stated that such demands are not part of the formula. He added that if any changes arise after discussion, the government will look into them.
Regarding the High Court’s concerns about the delay in resolving the Harijan Colony issue, Dhar assured that the government is making every effort to resolve the issue by the end of this year.
