Shillong, Oct 14: BJP legislator from Pynthorumkhrah and former cabinet minister AL Hek has expressed disagreement with the state BJP’s demand for the immediate removal of the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner over alleged failure to ensure child safety.
Speaking to the media, Hek said he had called the state BJP president seeking clarification on the decision, questioning its relevance when the issue pertains to the police department.

“As per my understanding, the crimes are purely under the police department. I feel it is meaningless to demand the removal of the Deputy Commissioner,” he said.
Hek, who is currently in Delhi, stated that he was yet to fully understand the issue behind the demand and expressed surprise that the party had not informed or consulted him before making such a demand.
