Must read

Williamnagar, May 18: Authorities on Tuesday felled a dead tree located inside the PWD quarter near the Junior Section of Sacred Heart School after safety concerns highlighted in a Hub News report triggered swift action from the administration and the Forest Department. The tree had long been considered a serious hazard by students, parents, pedestrians, and daily commuters, with fears that it could collapse at any moment and cause a major accident.

To ensure public safety during the operation, traffic movement in the area was temporarily suspended for several hours with the assistance of traffic police personnel and Forest Department staff.Officials said the operation was particularly challenging, as workers had to climb the dead tree to secure ropes and clear branches, despite the risks involved. However, the Forest Department successfully carried out the felling operation without any untoward incident.

The timely intervention has brought much-needed relief to students, parents, and local residents who had been worried about the potential danger for a long time.

Principal of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Fr. John Thomas, along with parents and local residents, thanked the district administration and the concerned departments for responding promptly and removing the hazardous tree to ensure public safety.
