Shillong, Sept 13: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday said that the process for the implementation of Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) is on and all the mechanisms related to streamlining the registration system are being made by the Government.
He said that an online software has been created to implement the system.
“two- three weeks back, we had a meeting at my level. The NIC, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, and officials from police department were present. The first presentation of online registration system for the MRSSA was presented to us… There will be data entry operators present in different police stations, the software will be online, the system for the headmen to register and inform the administration and police regarding who are the people staying in rented places will be online. All these were presented to us. And based on that, we have asked for few changes to make the system more user-friendly,” informed Sangma on Monday.
As soon as these changes are made, a pilot project of MRSSA will be rolled out in selected localities. “We plan to take up 2-3 localities on pilot basis. So I expect maybe in a month or two months time we will be able to start a pilot project on creating a database and making it online at the earliest,” he said.
