Tura, Sept 25: Garo Hills is witnessing one tragedy after another in which young children have lost their lives for no fault of theirs.
After a 14 year boy died in a freak accident at his Loyola school in Williamnagar when a log fell on his head, another tragedy has unfolded in the border village Purakhasia where a child was crushed to death after a speeding truck that carries boulders went over him on the road.
The driver and the truck were detained at the police station, later.
It was heart wrenching to witness the mother lying beside the motionless body of her child on the road as people gathered not knowing what to do.
There have been complaints from public for a long time against the boulder carrying trucks speeding through the state highway from Ampati to Dalu via Purakhasia.
