Jowai, Feb 24: Jowai MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla, has informed that the concerned department has almost completed acquiring land for waste disposal and treatment for West Jaintia Hills district and that inspection has already been completed.

This comes following incessant demands for solution to the waste disposal woes of the district, especially of Jowai town. Recently, NGO group Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) had put up banners condemning the MDA government for lack of proper waste management.

Meanwhile, Shylla said it would help if citizens practice segregation of waste, especially plastic waste, which can then be sent to the factory nearby.

In addition, Shylla requested the agitating NGOs to cooperate with the district administration and the government in acquiring the land so that they could solve the issue of waste management in Jowai altogether.
