KSU slams Govt over CUET centres, says students forced out of state

Must read

SHILLONG, MAR 3: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Tuesday accused the state government of repeated neglect, saying Meghalaya students are made to write CUET exams outside the state every year.

“Through its Education Cell the Union once again expresses strong resentment at the government’s indifference toward our students,” Education Secretary Pynkmenlang Sanmiet said, calling it “not a one‑time mistake but a deliberate act of negligence… that sidelines education.”

He added, “Every year we write to the government… thousands of students have to go outside precisely because of this government’s apathy toward its young people.”

Sanmiet said the pattern over several CUET cycles shows the administration is incompetent in matters of education and instead spends time on publicity‑driven work that brings no benefit to students’ future.

“If this were the first time, perhaps we could accept some deficiency. But from CUET’s beginning until now, we cannot keep accepting inefficiency. Is the Education Minister incompetent? Or are the officers?” he asked.

The Union demanded immediate arrangements for CUET centres inside Meghalaya, “as other states provide for their students.”
