DZONGU, JULY 12: In a tragic incident, a 40 year old man lost his life in a landslide on Wednesday morning in Lingzya village in Dzongu, Mangan District.

According to reports, the landslide occurred on Wedneday morning at around 8:30 am, following heavy rainfall triggering a landslide at Upper Lingzya under Sakyong Pentong Gram Panchayat unit.

This comes weeks after multiple landslides due to heavy rainfall damaged over a hundred houses in West Sikkim district. The incessant rain has caused extensive damage to infrastructure and property in the state.

As a result of the heavy rain, several rivers are flowing above the danger level.
