Imphal, Apr 13: The International Conference on “Harnessing the Potential of Organic and Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture” was inaugurated on Saturday (Apr 11) at the College of Horticulture, Bermiok, under Central Agricultural University, Imphal, with participation from scientists, academicians, farmers, and students.
The programme began with a Guard of Honour by NCC cadets, followed by inauguration of the Farmers’ Fair and exhibition stalls showcasing local innovations.
The formal session included ceremonial lighting of the lamp and felicitation of dignitaries.

The event was presided over by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Joshi, Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, with Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, as Guest of Honour.
Eminent dignitaries included Dr. Eklabya Sharma, Padma Shri Awardee and Strategic Advisor & Senior Fellow at ATREE; Dr. N. C. Gautam, former Vice Chancellor, MGCGV, Satna; Dr. Santanu Kumar Swain, Vice Chancellor, Sikkim University; Dr. Hardeo Singh Yadav, Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Professional University; and Dr. A. K. Pandey, Dean, College of Horticulture, Bermiok.

Speakers emphasized integrating scientific innovation with traditional knowledge, restoring soil health, reducing chemical dependence, and promoting farmer-centric research. Key publications were released, and agricultural inputs were distributed to 100 progressive farmers.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by farmer–scientist interactions and technical sessions. Faculty of the College of Community Science, CAU (Imphal), Tura, witnessed the inaugural programme online.
