Imphal, July 1: Security forces in Manipur have launched a massive combing operation after four people were killed near K. Mongjang village in Churachandpur district on Sunday.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 1 pm when a Hyundai Creta vehicle came under heavy gunfire, leaving three men dead inside the car.

The fourth victim, a woman, was found dead near the site of the attack.
The victims have been identified as Phalgung (72), a resident of Koite village; Thenkhothang alias Thahpi (48), from Matejang; Seikhogin (35), hailing from Teiseng; and Lengouhao (35), of Chengkon village.
Initial investigations suggest the car was ambushed in a targeted attack.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Churachandpur Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
“We have launched joint operations in the Churachandpur area. From the initial investigation, it is clear that the people were attacked by militants. We are taking all help from intelligence agencies to eliminate the insurgents involved in this heinous act,” said a police official.
