Williamnagar, April 18: A district-level marathon was held in East Garo Hills on Saturday to mark World Homoeopathy Day, with participants competing across multiple categories.

The run began at from Rongrenggre Playground to Baija Turning Point and back and was flagged off by ASP Anthony Ch. Momin. The event was organised by the District Medical & Health Officer under the National AYUSH Mission in collaboration with the District Sports Officer and local clubs. Participation was limited to residents of the district.

In the senior category (above 40 years), Withnil M Sangma won the men’s race, followed by Samundar Ch Momin in second place and Salim N Marak in third. In the women’s section, Benolitha M Sangma finished first, while Tengchi M Sangma came second.

In the 18–40 category, John M Sangma secured first place in the men’s race, followed by Sanju M Sangma and Raksilbath G Momin. In the women’s race, Raksilchi A Marak finished first, ahead of Martha D Sangma in second and Aksha D Shira in third.

In the below-18 category, Salsrang Ch Marak won the boys’ race, followed by Basan A Marak and Sanil Ch Marak. In the girls’ race, Ritimesa N Marak finished first, with Jimsene D Sangma second and Mariana M Sangma third.

In the medical officers and staff category, Chinapan R Marak secured first place, followed by Dr Kenneth Nongsiej in second and Dr Chechurak N Marak in third.

The youngest participants recognised at the event included Breyan Zeus Ch Marak (5 years), Ayanchu G Momin (8 years), Derio G Momin (10 years), Hezekiar B Sangma (10 years), Sokamesa M Sangma (10 years) and Ringchi D Sangma (11 years).

Prizes will be distributed during the main World Homoeopathy Day programme on April 29.
