Shillong, June 30: Meghalaya BJP state president Ernest Mawrie has hit back at Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee’s allegations of ‘double dacoity’ and ‘double corruption’ and running a government of two sides of the same coin, both at the Centre and the state.
The BJP state president Mawrie on speaking with reporters here on Wednesday said the TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Mamta Banerjee should see their state West Bengal before coming to Meghalaya and leveling allegations.
“Where every kind of corruption is spread; my advice is that before accusing BJP here, they should first stop corruption in West Bengal where not only corruption but also incidents like rape, murder, dacoity are happening everyday,” said Mawrie.
“….If we are talking about corruption, then where are we sitting silent. You see every day that the state BJP pressurizes the Chief Minister to take action on the issue of corruption,” he added.
At the same time, Mawrie said if Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Charles Pyngrope and Mukul Sangma are so serious about corruption in Meghalaya then they should file FIRs. “They are taking the corruption issue so seriously then why not file an FIR, the police will take its own action, in this way as soon as the elections are near, mere allegations will not work,” Mawrie further said.
