SHILLONG, Sept 14: Meghalaya Government is examining the proposal for upgrading 450 sub centres and dispensaries across the state into Public Health Centres (PHC).
This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Health and Family Welfare, Prestone Tynsong while replying to a query by Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma during the Assembly Session on Tuesday.
Dr. Sangma had wanted to know how many sub centres and dispensaries are being proposed for upgradation.
Also, Tynsong added that massive investigation is needed before considering the upgradation of these sub centres and dispensaries.
Earlier in the session, in his reply to UDP legislator from Ranikor, Pius Marwein, the Deputy CM had also informed that the plan to upgrade the Mawpud Sub-Centre into a PHC is under examination.
Tynsong assured that once the detailed examination is completed by the government, sanction will be accorded.
