Shillong, Sept 9: Meghalaya Police on Thursday arrested three persons including a woman with over 8,400 kgs of Yaba tablets worth around Rs 1.8 crore in Shillong.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said the district ANTF along with personnel of Rynjah police station in the presence of locality members conducted a search at the residence of one woman at Lapalang.
He informed that 8.471 kg of Yaba tablets were recovered worth Rs 1.8 crores in the international market from her residence.
He also informed that it has been ascertained that the Yaba tablets were trafficked from Myanmar to be smuggled across the border to Bangladesh.
Further, on the leading of the accused, two more suspects were arrested.
In this connection, a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 is being registered at Rynjah police station.
