The Reinvent Northeast – Meghalaya segment opened with an electrifying live performance by SKUBO Band led by vocalist Peter from Garo Hills, setting the tone for a powerful cultural showcase.
Two of Meghalaya’s celebrated designers took the runway. Lakme Marak, Garo Hills weaver, presented a striking handloom line reflecting traditional Garo weaves through contemporary design and Iaishah Rymbai, founder of Eri Weave and a Shark Tank-featured entrepreneur, showcased her signature Eri silk and mulberry silk collections crafted with women-led weaving communities.

The segment’s showstopper was Annu Marbaniang, an international fitness icon based in Delhi.

At the first-ever International Delhi Fashion Awards (IDFA), both Meghalaya designers—Lakme Marak and Iaishah Rymbai—won Best Handloom Designer from Meghalaya.
A special honour was presented to Sabrella Marak for her contribution to promoting Meghalaya’s fashion ecosystem and motivating creative talent from the Northeast.

Earlier, the event launched the inaugural Delhi Fashion Summit – Season 1, spotlighting sustainable fashion and handloom as engines of self-employment under Viksit Bharat. Meghalaya’s grassroots weavers, including Iaishah Rymbai, shared insights on women’s empowerment through weaving.
