SHILLONG, May 26: The Meghalaya Nursing Council (MNC), in collaboration with the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project (MHSSP), on Tuesday launched the “Continued Nursing Education (CNE) through Clinical Vignettes for Nursing Staff of the State” programme aimed at strengthening continuous learning and clinical competency among nursing professionals across Meghalaya.Meghalaya strengthens nursing education with digital platform

The initiative was launched during an MNC meeting attended by principals, vice principals and nursing superintendents from government and private hospitals and nursing institutions across the state.

A key feature of the programme was the introduction of an online Healthcare Learning System (HLS), a technology-enabled platform designed to enhance in-service education for nursing personnel through structured clinical case scenarios, also known as clinical vignettes, tailored to the healthcare needs of Meghalaya.

Officials said the learning tool aligns with national guidelines for the management of maternal and child health, communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases. It also integrates treatment protocols based on Meghalaya’s Essential Drugs List to ensure relevance to local healthcare practices.

Senior nursing faculty members from the state are contributing to the development of the clinical vignettes to ensure contextual accuracy and practical applicability in real-world clinical settings.

Grace Perry Sunn, Assistant Director of Nursing-cum-Registrar of the Meghalaya Nursing Council, welcomed participants during the programme.

An orientation session was conducted by Dr Anindita Bhowmik, consultant with MHSSP, while Byron Phira, General Manager of MHSSP, presented the Healthcare Learning System.

Officials said the initiative is expected to expand professional development opportunities for nursing personnel across Meghalaya while promoting continuous learning through technology-enabled, case-based clinical education.
