Shillong, Jan 7: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday informed that the 50th Meghalaya Statehood Celebration will go ahead as scheduled, amidst the pandemic.
“The government has directed the Chief Secretary and all the Deputy Commissioners concerned to bring out the detailed programme so by next week we can have another review meeting… we will reduce the attendees to the celebration,” said Tynsong.
“So for this also we have taken a decision that the celebration cannot be stopped but at the same time all the details and formalities will be brought in and presented again by Chief Secretary and all the Deputy Commissioners… and then government will take the final call,” he added.
Notably, Meghalaya will celebrate its 50th Statehood anniversary on January 21, 2022. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has officially sent an invitation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
