Aizawl, Oct 7: A 61-year-old woman has been allegedly murdered by her ex-husband by suicide bombing in South Mizoram’s Lunglei district.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 12:30 pm when the victim Lalthianghlimi, a vegetable vendor, was selling vegetables near High Powered Committee (HPC) office in Lunglei’s Chanmari.
Police said her ex-husband Rohmingliana (62) visited her at her stall and sat by her side smoking a cigarette. He hugged her and suddenly the bomb, believed to be gelatine, exploded.
Lalthianghlimi died on the spot while her husband Rohmingliana was rushed to Lunglei civil hospital, where he too succumbed to his injuries later.
According to police, the two had been separated for about two months over a domestic issue and Lalthianghlimi was living with their eldest daughter.
“The matter is under investigation. Right now we cannot comment anything on the issue. After investigation everything will be clear,” a police official said.
