Must read

Tura, June 26: In a chilling murder that has all the hallmarks of a psychopathic killer from a suspense thriller, a young 19 year old girl who disappeared from Tura town more than two months ago has had her remains found buried in a shallow grave after her jealous lover led police to the area where he murdered her in cold blood by taking the help of an underage boy or juvenile.

The case was cracked by West Garo Hills police that formed an investigation team after the family of young Neha G Momin filed a missing person’s report with the women police station in Tura on 20th of April 2022, two months ago.

Neha’s body was recovered on June 25th from a shallow grave in Sona Chiring area by the side of Didram River of Bajengdoba, North Garo Hills.

“The prime accused has been arrested along with another suspect who is a Child in Conflict with Law and we have recovered the body of the victim,” said West Garo Hills SP V S Rathore who oversaw the investigation into unearthing the truth behind the disappearance of the young girl.

During the investigation police identified her boyfriend Solesh R Marak who became overtly worried about her disappearance claiming to many about how he was missing her and didn’t know her whereabouts.

He even put up several posts on facebook to project his concern and sadness over the disappearance.

Both Neha and Solesh hailed from Bajengdoba area and were staying in Tura to pursue their higher education.

Accused Solesh had only recently sought admission in a college in Tura after covering his tracks of the murder.

The investigation found that both were in a rocky relationship when the girl suddenly disappeared.

Also, there was no angle of kidnapping or ransom demand and her mobile was never switched on from the night of her disappearance and murder.

With all angles of suspicion falling on the boyfriend and credible leads coming in,  police picked up Solesh R Marak from Bajengdoba on 22nd of June.

Another suspect who happened to be a Child in conflict with law (CICL) (juvenile) was also apprehended.

It was during police questioning that Solesh admitted to be in a relationship with Neha for 2-3 years but grew suspicious that she was having an affair with another boy.

He engaged the underage accomplice of his to help him in snooping on the whereabouts of Neha.

Filled with jealousy and rage, Solesh came up with an elaborate murder plan.

To avoid detection, he asked Neha to come to Bajengdoba so that he could meet her and clear their misunderstandings and doubts about one other.

The unsuspecting girl obliged and left Tura to meet up with Solesh at Bajengdoba.

The very same night she met Solesh the murder took place.

After the cold blooded murder Solesh and his young juvenile accomplice dumped the body into a sandy shallow grave in a jungle area at Sona Chiring.

Two months later, it took police over 24 hours of search on Saturday to locate the unmarked grave after being led to the area by the arrested boyfriend.

The highly decomposed body was found in the shallow unmarked grave located approximately 1 km from the house of Solesh Marak near Sona Chiring.

The phone of Neha, a crucial piece of evidence that never got switched back on after her last meeting with Solesh, was also found buried near a electric pole.

The place where the murdered girl’s phone was recovered is just around 100 meters from the house of the arrested boyfriend.

The dead body has since been brought to Tura for Post Mortem Examination and police are continuing their investigation with a charge sheet expected to be submitted soon in court.
