Nagaland Education Department calls for wide participation in Yoga Day

Kohima, June 17: The Nagaland Directorate of School Education has directed all government and private schools across the state to actively participate in the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, with district education authorities tasked with ensuring maximum involvement of students and staff.

In a circular issued on June 16, Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, instructed District Education Officers (DEOs), Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officers (Sr. SDEOs) and Sub-Divisional Education Officers (SDEOs) to disseminate information about the nationwide event and promote awareness among educational institutions under their jurisdiction.

The directive follows instructions from the Department of School Education and SCERT and calls for the organisation of yoga sessions in schools and educational centres across the state.

Officials have been asked to ensure active participation of students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff during the observance.

To document the event, district and sub-divisional education officials have been directed to submit Action Taken Reports along with GPS-tagged photographs on the day of the programme for onward submission to the Ministry.

The move is part of nationwide efforts to promote yoga as a tool for physical well-being, mental health and holistic development among students.
