HYDERABAD, March 17: A new book on inclusive teaching practices, “Inclusive Education: Strategies for Diverse Classrooms,” was unveiled on Tuesday at a national conference on gender equity, underlining the growing push to make classrooms more equitable and accessible across India.
The release took place during the inaugural session of the two-day conference titled “Gender Equity in Urban India: Bridging Gap through Policy Planning & Public Finance,” bringing together policymakers, academics, and education experts.

Edited by Dr. Madhukar Gampala, Associate Professor at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus in Meghalaya, the volume compiles 20 chapters offering practical and research-based approaches to inclusive education. Gampala, an academic at NEHU’s Tura Campus, has nearly two decades of experience in teaching and research. His work spans educational psychology, curriculum development, inclusive education, and guidance and counselling. He has been actively involved in teacher training and curriculum design, with a focus on promoting equitable learning environments
The book was launched by a panel of experts, including Dr. P.P. Anil Kumar of NIT Calicut, Prof. B. Srinagesh, Director of RCUES and conference convenor, and Dr. B.K. Pandey from the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management.
Featuring contributions from educators and researchers across India, the book focuses on addressing the needs of diverse learners in modern classrooms. It blends theoretical frameworks with actionable strategies aimed at helping teachers create more inclusive learning environments.

‘The contributors highlight ways to move beyond policy rhetoric and translate equity into classroom practice—particularly important in urban India, where diversity in language, ability, and socio-economic backgrounds continues to grow.
Speakers at the launch stressed that inclusive education is central to achieving broader goals of gender equity and social justice. They noted that equitable access to education forms the backbone of inclusive urban development and public policy.
Dr. Gampala said the book is intended as a practical guide for educators navigating increasingly diverse classrooms.
“Inclusive education is no longer optional—it is essential in a diverse society. This book brings together insights from across India to help educators ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive,” he said.
