Shillong, Jan 11: The Cabinet Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) Leader, Rakkam A. Sangma, called the Congress Party ‘History’ and said people want the future and present and not vote for history.

The statement from the NPP MLA came after Congress leader Vincent Pala said on Tuesday that there have been good levels of central government investment in infrastructure and development works while the Congress was in power at the Centre, and the party was also responsible for the creation of NEHU, IIM Shillong, NIFT Shillong, and other developmental projects in the state.

Rakkam, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, said that what Congress has done in the past is in history, and let us keep it in the books.

“Let us keep it in the books. People do not vote for history; they want the future and the present, said Sangma.

Adding to that, the people, especially the youths of the state, should decide which party can deliver and which party can create job opportunities.

In further lashing at the Congress Party and its leader, Sangma said that “sometimes what is in documents does not prove your efficiency.”

People do not discuss all this, added Sangma, as he stressed that what is in the past is in the past. “What he did is what he did in the past. The voters of today decide what the needs of the hour are, he added.
