Williamnagar, July 24: Former MDC of Gasuapara Constituency, Olendro R. Marak, has officially resigned from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress (INC) citing personal reasons.

Olendro began his political career with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and was elected as a Member of District Council (MDC) from Gasuapara Constituency in the 2009 GHADC elections. He later joined the Congress party, under which he contested two consecutive GHADC elections but was unable to secure a win.

When asked about the reason for his resignation and his future political plans, Marak stated, “Despite sincere efforts, I faced defeat twice. I feel it’s time to make space for other Congress members to contest. As of now, I have no intention to join any political party. I wish to remain independent at this juncture.”
His decision marks a significant development in the political landscape of South Garo Hills, especially with upcoming council elections drawing nearer.
