Imphal, June 2: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have rescued over 500 people, including children and the elderly, on the second day of “Operation Jal Rahat-2”, conducting extensive flood rescue operations across the severely waterlogged Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur.

Ten flood relief columns, equipped with specialized BAUTs and inflatable boats from Army Engineers, were deployed to critical areas such as Wangkhei, Heingang, Lamlong, Khurai,

NIMS, and Ahallup. Troops also undertook emergency repairs of the breached Iril River boundary wall near Arapti Lamkhai in Lilong, Thoubal District, to prevent further inundation. At the JNIMS hospital, boats were actively used to ferry stranded patients to safety.

In addition to the rescues, nearly 800 bottles of drinking water and other essential supplies were distributed to displaced families in various relief zones.
