Shillong, March 23: Minister in-charge Public Health Engineering (PHE) Marcuise N Marak on Thursday said that the Pohkseh Water Supply Scheme is targeted to be completed in June, this year.

The project was sanctioned on March 29, 2018.

Replying to a query raised by AITC Nongthymmai legislator Charles Pyngrope in the Assembly, Marak said, “The amount sanctioned is Rs 85,84,600.00 and the amount utilized till date is Rs 45,59, 441.00.”

He informed that the expected population to be benefited upon completion of the project is 7,760.

Marak, however, said provision for providing house service connections was not incorporated in the scheme as the household connections are being provided by the dorbar shnong.

While raising his supplementary query, Pyngrope said that the progress of work has been very slow and tardy and requested the minister to visit the site of the project.

Marak assured to take up the matter and said, “Pohkseh is close to my heart. I will take very keen interest in this.”

He informed that the land given earlier was quite far and cost is high for the deep tubewell and, therefore, the department has asked for another location, which is very near to the village to save the cost. “Now the dorbar shnong has located the place,” he added.
