Police busts illegal drug trade in West Garo Hills, arrests 2 drug dealers

Tura, May 2: In another victory in the ongoing war against drugs, the West Garo Hills police busted an illegal drug trade in the district on Monday and apprehended two alleged drug dealers.

The suspects, identified as Kimbri Achura T. Sangma and Jamslay Ch. Marak, were caught on Monday while they were returning from Krishnai towards Tura side. A police naka party near Gokul Bazar area under Bajengdoba PS was able to intercept the suspects and take them into custody.

The police have been engaged in a relentless campaign to crack down on the illegal drug trade in the region, which has caused significant harm to individuals and communities alike. The arrest of Kimbri Achura T. Sangma and Jamslay Ch. Marak is a major step forward in this effort.

Upon searching the suspects, the police found around 12.57 grams of suspected heroin on them, and also seized one scooty, and two mobile phones.

Kimbri, son of the late George Ch. Sangma and resident of Niram Ading P.O. Chandmari PS Tura, and Jamslay, son of the late Jartush R. Marak and resident of Upper Wadanang, P.O. Chandmari PS Tura, have been arrested on charges of drug possession and sale.
