We regret to inform our readers that the identity of James R. Sangma, the prime suspect in a murder case, was inadvertently blurred in our previous reports due to a technical oversight.
Normally, we blur images of minors, girls, and women, which are mandated as per journalistic code of ethics. However, in this instance, the image was not treated similarly. Through this notice, we are revealing the identity of James R. Sangma as per the requirements of the case.
The East Garo Hills Police have issued a stern warning to the public against harboring or concealing James R. Sangma, who is accused in the murder case that occurred at Samgong, Williamnagar on July 18. According to an official press release, certain individuals may be hiding the whereabouts of the wanted man, who is named in Williamnagar Women Police Station Case No. 13/2025 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The police department has reminded the public that harboring or shielding a wanted person is a serious offense under Section 249 of the BNS, punishable with imprisonment of up to five years. “Anyone who knowingly helps or protects the accused to evade arrest will face strict legal action,” the release stated.
The police urge anyone with information about the accused’s location to immediately contact the office of the Superintendent of Police, any nearby police station, outpost, or the nearest police unit or officer without delay.
