Shillong, June 6: The family of Raja Raghuwanshi, a newlywed from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, whose body was recently found in a gorge near Sohra, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident.
His wife, Sonam, remains missing.
Raja and Sonam Raghuwanshi had travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon after getting married on May 11. The couple was last in contact with their family on May 23, the same day their mobile phones were switched off. A frantic search ended on June 2 with the discovery of Raja’s body in a deep gorge at Sohrarim, near Cherrapunji, East Khasi Hills district. The search operation for Sonam is ongoing.
Raja’s brother, Vipul Raghuwanshi, said, “We have submitted a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office through the commissioner, demanding a CBI inquiry. We want justice for Raja and hope it will also help trace Sonam.“
The couple had left Indore for Shillong on May 20. Their mysterious disappearance and the grim discovery have raised concerns, with the family pressing for central intervention.
