Khliehriat, Sept 27: As part of the closing ceremony of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2021, a Poshan Mela was held on Monday at the Office Campus of Deputy Commissioner, East Jaiñtia Hills District, Khliehriat and the programme was organized by the office of the District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Poshan Abhiyan, East Jaiñtia Hills District, Khliehriat in collaboration with other line Departments.On the occasion the Minister in-charge of Transport Department, D. Lamare as the chief guest lauded the efforts and hardwork of the district officials and field workers of the district in implementing various Government schemes and programmes. He urged the gathering to take the opportunity and avail the schemes implemented by the State and the Central Government which provides numerous benefits for individuals and the overall development of the District.He also reiterated on the need for every citizen to cooperate with various line departments, officers and field workers of the district so that every programme and scheme implemented will be successful and benefit the public at large and stressed on the importance of consuming clean and healthy nutritious food to prevent children from sickness and diseases and other health issues.Also addressing the gathering, Minister of Social Welfare Department, Kyrmen Shylla informed that the Rastriya Poshan Maah (Nutrition month programme) is celebrated across the country with the objective to create awareness about health and nutrition among women and children through the anganwadi workers, anganwadi helpers and ASHA workers.
He further stressed on Covid vaccination and the importance of getting vaccinated so as to prevent and protect oneself from severe health complications that can arise from contracting the virus. The Minister urged the anganwadi workers, ASHA workers to continue their hardwork in creating more awareness and in encouraging the public to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from the virus.During the programme the Ministers also visited the stalls put up by various departments of the district which included Social Welfare Department, office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, Health Department, AH & Veterinary Department, Office of the District Swachh Bharat Mission and Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society among others.
