Tura, Oct 2: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Rongkhon Youth Social Welfare Organization organized a large-scale cleaning drive at the Rongkhon stream.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from the majority of the youth in the Rongkhon area, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to environmental conservation.
The Rongkhon stream, renowned as one of the cleanest water sources in the Tura region, provides drinking water to a significant portion of Tura’s population. The cleaning drive aimed to maintain the stream’s pristine condition and ensure the continued supply of safe drinking water.
According to Kenan T. Sangma, one of the youth leaders from the organisation, they are dedicated to preserving the cleanliness of the stream and have committed to organising similar initiatives in the future.
“We are doing our best to keep the stream clean and will continue to hold such drives to protect this vital water source,” the leader remarked.
This initiative not only highlights the community’s environmental responsibility but also underscores the importance of collective action in preserving natural resources for future generations.
