Boko, June 12: A major infrastructure push aimed at improving rural connectivity got underway in the Boko–Chhaygaon constituency on Thursday, with MLA Raju Mesh laying the foundation stones for three road projects worth over Rs 3.30 crore.

The projects, sanctioned under SOPD-G 2025–26, are expected to improve year-round connectivity for several villages and strengthen access to schools, markets and essential services.

Accompanied by PWD (Roads) officials and local representatives, Mesh inaugurated the projects at Raipara, Athkupara and Deochor, where residents welcomed the long-awaited road development works.

Among the key projects is a 1-km road connecting Boko–Chamaria Road to Raipara via Medhipara, including the construction of a wooden bridge at Raipara. The project, estimated at Rs 1.19 crore, is expected to significantly ease movement for residents in the area.

Another road project will connect Athkupara PWD Road to Ganya Cemetery Road at a cost of Rs 61.29 lakh, while a Rs 1.50 crore project will improve a 2-km stretch from Agchiya Deochor to Basanta Kalita House via Uttar Bahjani LP School in Bangaon.

Addressing local residents, Mesh said better roads are critical for rural development and expressed confidence that the projects would improve connectivity and create new opportunities for people across the constituency.

Highlighting the pace of infrastructure development, the MLA stated that foundation stones for 13 road projects have been laid across Boko–Chhaygaon in the past six days alone. He reiterated his commitment to upgrading roads across the constituency and said efforts were underway to ensure that long-pending infrastructure gaps are addressed in the coming years.

For many villagers, the projects represent more than just new roads. They promise easier travel, better access to public services and improved connectivity during the monsoon season, when several stretches often become difficult to navigate.

With work expected to begin soon, residents are hopeful that the projects will bring lasting improvements to everyday life and support the constituency’s broader development goals.
