Boko, June 12: In a fresh crackdown on drug trafficking in Kamrup district, police arrested an alleged drug supplier and seized heroin along with dozens of empty drug containers during an operation at Jorshimuli village on Thursday.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Jorshimuli Police Outpost launched a targeted operation and apprehended Aminul Ali, a resident of the village, who is suspected of being involved in the local narcotics trade.
During the raid, police recovered a packet of suspected heroin and seized 68 drug containers believed to be linked to the distribution of narcotic substances.
According to police sources, the accused had allegedly been operating discreetly for a considerable period while managing to evade law enforcement scrutiny. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Anjan Sharma, who acted on confidential information regarding the movement and storage of contraband.

The arrest is being seen as part of the continuing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the spread of drugs in the region. Police officials said investigations are underway to determine possible links to a wider supply network and identify other individuals involved in the trade.
The seizure comes amid growing concerns over the impact of narcotics on rural communities, particularly among young people. Residents have repeatedly called for stricter action against drug peddlers and suppliers operating in the area.
Police said further investigation is in progress and more arrests cannot be ruled out.
