Sangam Kayang Becomes Arunachal Pradesh’s First National Football Referee

Itanagar, April 24: Football enthusiasts in Arunachal Pradesh have a reason to celebrate as Sangam Kayang has made history by becoming the state’s first National football referee.

Kayang, who hails from Seppa in the East Kameng District, has successfully passed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Level-5 referee examination. conducted on April 15 and 17, 2024. The results were declared on April 23. This significant achievement was accomplished at the Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior, marking a milestone in Kayang’s career and the state’s football history.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, took to Twitter to congratulate Kayang on his remarkable feat, stating, “Your dedication and hard work have paved the way for this success, starting from your hometown of Seppa in East Kameng District. Passing the AIFF Level-5 referee exam at LNIPE, Gwalior demonstrates your passion and commitment to the sport.”

This remarkable achievement is a personal victory for Kayang and a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh. With a National-level referee now hailing from the state, it is expected to pave the way for aspiring players and officials to pursue their dreams in the sport with renewed vigor.
