Tura, Feb 14: Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great joy and fervour in Tura on Wednesday.

Pandals with a beautiful idol of Maa Saraswati in many institutions and localities like Gorkha School, Babupara Natya Samiti, Fancy Valley and Beldarpara were highly visited by pandal hoppers.

The Puja pandal was thoroughly decorated with vibrant flowers, with devotees coming in from various place of Tura, who, presented offerings to the deity and imbibed the spiritual and auspicious aura of the festival. It is seen that the festival is mostly celebrated privately in small localities and institutions.

The holy Saraswati Puja, also accompanied by Basanth Panchami, is held in honour of the goddess of learning and music. The ritual is popular among artistes, instrumentalists and singers as well as students who begin their symbolic education this day.
