Itanagar, Aug 8: The Save Arunachal Save Indigenous (SASI) forum has urged the Arunachal Pradesh government to intensify enforcement of Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations to counter the alleged influx of immigrants into the state.
In a four-point memorandum submitted to the state’s Home Minister on Thursday, SASI called for strict ILP verification at all entry points and raised concerns over potential demographic shifts affecting indigenous communities.
SASI Chairman Romjir Rakshap, speaking to reporters, said the forum was unable to meet the minister personally due to his busy schedule, but ensured the memorandum was formally handed over to his office.

Rakshap linked the issue to the recent eviction drives in neighbouring Assam, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government, which he claimed may have forced displaced settlers to cross over into Arunachal.
“If this alarming trend of migration continues unchecked, there will come a time when the indigenous people will be outnumbered, and even protective laws like the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) of 1873 may not be enough to safeguard us,” Rakshap warned.
