Shillong, April 22: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday said that the second wave of Covid is very aggressive and the transmission is faster.

Urging the public to go for vaccination, he said that Covid vaccine is the only solution to protect the lives of our people. “If 70-80 per cent of the population is vaccinated and our vaccination drive goes well. We will be able to protect the lives of our people,” he added.

He also informed that more than 1 lakh doses has been administered in the State with no reports of any side effects.

He said that government has planned to cover more population through the vaccination drive in the next two weeks.

“After vaccination, we may still get positive but it will reduce the severity and we will be able to fight the virus,” he said.

Terming that vaccination is the only solution, he urged the public to go ahead with vaccination.
