Dibrugarh, Dec 4: Security forces on Thursday apprehended an active cadre of the NSCN (K–Niki Sumi) in the general area of Hukanjuri in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district.
The individual has been identified as SS Captain Jenlong Supong, an armed member of the insurgent faction.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Arunachal Pradesh Police, launched a swift operation. Based on credible inputs from ECIB and 3 CIB, a joint team comprising troops of 44 Assam Rifles and police personnel moved to the suspected location and executed a precise intervention.
The team recovered one pistol, a magazine, six live rounds, a mobile phone, and a PAN card from Supong.

The apprehended cadre has been handed over to Khonsa Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The NSCN (K–Niki Sumi) faction remains active in the Tirap, Longding, and Changlang (TLC) region, where it continues to run widespread extortion networks targeting locals and business establishments.
Security officials said the operation underscores the Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to maintain peace, enhance security, and curb insurgent activities in the region through timely, coordinated action.
