Guwahati, Feb 13: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the India-Bangladesh international border in Assam’s Cachar district on February 21 to attend an event under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP).
According to party sources, Shah is expected to arrive in Assam on February 20 and will travel to Natanpur village near the international border the following morning.
Ahead of the visit, Assam cabinet minister Kaushik Rai, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Ayush Garg, and senior officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) and district police visited Natanpur on Thursday to review preparations and security arrangements.
Natanpur, located in the Katigorah area of Cachar district, has in recent years witnessed the apprehension of over 200 alleged illegal migrants, including nationals from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The Vibrant Villages Programme, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to promote livelihood generation, tourism, and cultural heritage while strengthening skill development, agriculture, and allied sectors in border areas.
