Shillong Taxi fares to be hiked as petrol prices reach Rs. 100 mark

Must read

Shillong, Oct 15: Public commuting in Shillong is set to get expensive with the prices of petrol touching the Rs. 100 mark. Shillong Taxi Association has decided to hike taxi fares as the current rates are not viable due to hike in fuel prices.

At the same time, the association has asked the state government to intervene into the matter.

The taxis are well aware that the fare hike will cause inconvenience to general public but they are unable to help with the current crisis as they are unable to make any profits.

The association has also expressed its annoyance over government turning a blind eye to the issue, thus far.

Additionally, they have cautioned that they will be forced to launch agitation if the fuel prices contunue to rise further.

Mentionably, fuel prices have been hiked across the nation due to rising crude oil prices in international market, with prices of petrol in almost all states breaching the Rs. 100 mark.
